Acupuncture

**A note from Kali: I'm on maternity leave following the birth of my son, Sagan on Feb 6th 2010!  I'll start taking appointments again on Tuesday, March 9th, and begin seeing new clients Tuesday March 30th.  My online schedule is available to schedule appointments anytime after March 30th.  To book an appointment between the 9th & 30th, please leave a message at 316.518.0050.  Thanks!!!

With a history dating back several thousand years, acupuncture incorporates elements of natural science, human studies, and social science. It harnesses the knowledge of health-preservation from over eighty generations, and distinguishes itself among traditional holistic and conventional regimens with several millennia of clinical experience handed down from practitioner to practitioner, originally in China, and now all over the world.

Utilizing an understanding of the movement of electromagnetic energy, or Qi, (pronounced ‘chee’) throughout the body and mind, acupuncture is used today to treat a variety of symptoms, acute and chronic, as well as nonspecific and undiagnosed ailments.

Through the insertion of fine, sterile, one-time-use needles, the body's own healing response is stimulated, in turn helping to restore its natural balance.

The aim of  acupuncture is for whole and complete health:

physically, mentally, and emotionally

Testimonials

I really enjoy working with Kali in acupuncture.  She has a unique talent that merges great technical knowledge with wonderful intuitive expertise.  She is gentle, always waiting until I’m ready, so the procedure is relaxing and comfortable.

I came to work with Kali because of a terrible case of Menera’s Syndrome which had been going on for more than six months.  The nausea and dizzy spells were disrupting my life so much that I was unable to work or even trust I could run to the grocery store and back.  After several months of weekly, then biweekly visits with Kali, along with adjusting my diet and examining my emotional life, I have been living free from this disabling disease since last July!

The fact that she combines the emotional events in my life along with the physical symptoms shows that she is on the cutting edge of the health industry and makes the healing permanent.  Kali is generous and always concerned about my well-being.  I recommend her highly.

I just wanted to let you know that I am ……… PREGNANT!!  I’m actually at 26/27 weeks, due in January.  I’ve wanted to come by so many times and drop in to surprise you but it has just never worked out.  I am so appreciative of the help you offered and the healing you provided.  I truly believe that your support  and skills played a big factor in my body normalizing and accepting a child.  I would highly recommend your services to anyone in my situation or someone who is needing to balance their body and mind.  You made me a believer in acupuncture.  God Bless and Thank You.

Guess what?!!! We're pregnant! So, I need to schedule with you... because seriously, I have never felt better... and want to keep up the good work.  Thanks!!

I haven't had any trouble since my first appointment.  My left shoulder pain has all but gone away.

I tried acupuncture with Kali for the first time recently—I had it done before but it was in a more clinical setting-Kali’s treatments are more like a total experience, I felt very pampered and well taken care of, she was very thorough and was able to offer some great advice after assessing my needs. I left feeling completely energized, clear, and balanced. Will definitely go back, highly recommended!

I feel really good… I am sleeping better and I feel calmer than I did before. Thanks again for taking such good care of me!

-J.D. Wichita, KS

I feel great… I do not take sleeping pills, I haven’t taken Tylenol for several weeks.  I flat quit taking the ulcer meds.    I am only taking half of a muscle relaxer every  2 or 3 days,  as needed, when the stretching doesn’t rid the tension in my neck. I use Yoga positions and stretching on my lower back and neck regularly. I can do sit ups and pushups for the first time in probably two years.  I am jumping rope and I take my kids and  the dog for looonnnngggg walks, and  I am doing Qui Gong at home occasionally…

Man I was a physical mess when I started coming to see you. I credit you to getting me into the health kick I am on.  I really enjoy the natural way of doing things and the acupuncture thing started that for me.  I could talk natural heath and healing with you and you got it, actually you already had it, I was the one getting it.

Your easy going nature, kindness and genuine concern for my health has been a motivator for me to look for better solutions to get healthy.

At 47 years old, I hope I am finally on my way to a permanent healthy lifestyle.   My friends are calling me a ‘hippie’.   But finally I have control over me and my body.

Thank you very much.  I am very excited about feeling good.

I decided to try acupuncture for the first time this fall because I was looking for a holistic approach to my health, one that would recognize the relationship between spirit, body and mind.

I enjoy the half-hour of intentional relaxation that comes with each session, and over the past few months of treatment I have learned to bring this peace into my everyday life.
In many ways, I feel like I have developed a deeper awareness of what my body needs, and how to remain emotionally balanced no matter what life throws at me.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Most new patients are amazed at how painless acupuncture can be. With careful consideration to the needs of the patient, discomfort can easily be avoided.  When the correct stimulus of the needle has been obtained you may feel some heaviness, distention, tingling or electric sensation either around the needle or traveling up or down the affected energy pathway or meridian. This is a normal response to Qi sensation, which feels very therapeutic and allows for a greater awareness of what is happening in the body.

How Many Times Do I Need Acupuncture Treatment?

The answer to this depends on your how long you have been afflicted, how quickly your body responds and your lifestyle.  Multiple treatments may be necessary to allow for the body to adjust to being pain-free and sustain itself for your well-being.
